  • Hello

    Hi

My name is Gareth i'm 25 and from Anglsey North Wales.

I'll soon be moving out of my parents home (again ) and have randomly decided to start growing my own fruit and veg at my new home.
I've absolutely no gardening experience,no real knowledge of how to grow things but most importantly no real garden
But I watched a tv programme a year or so ago showing people using bags and pots to grow stuff,I was rather surprised at the verity of foods that were grown in them.

I still don't really know what i'll try and grow this first year,I'll probably try some potatoes, tomatoes and lots of herbs.
So I'll be trying to learn as much as I can over the next few months and may even have a few questions

    Thanks for checking this thread.

    PS

    A quick edit

Welcome to the vine Gvon! Even if you have a big plot it's still rewarding to grow SOME stuff in containers!

Hi - welcome to the world of growing your own. Pots are fine - keep an eye on the watering and you'll have some fantastic food.

                It really is amazing.
Last night I stumbled upon a video of someone growing potatoes in a tyre stack, and I thought it looked brilliant.
I'll probably try that with 2nd earlies and try two main crops, one in a tyre system the other in a bag/container set-up. (I hope that makes sense)

I need to read a little more on soil conditions,PCN and blight, and to fully understand when to earth up,and how to dry and store them, but i'm really excited by it all.
