  • Hi

    Hi,

I am new to the site so just dropping a quick post to introduce myself.

I've recently moved from my parents house with a big garden to a flat with a small balcony but am still trying to cultivate some plants, mainly vegetables and salads. Far cheaper and less wasteful than buying it!

Have also just built a wormery and have some worms on the way.

Any balcony gardening tips are very much appreciated!

    xx

Hello - nice to meet you. I think the main problem will be exposure to wind - if you grow low-growing stuff like salad leaves - or things you can tie up - like tomatoes - you will have a nice salad!

              Hi Nickerley!

I'm one of them. I also have a balcony and need help with container growing - and I'm a newbie too!

Where in London are you - suburbia or central? I'm in Aberdeen

                Thanks for the warm welcome

basketcase - I am in central-ish North London. Was living in leafy Twickenham before and miss the greenery loads.

Flummery - I didn't think of that. I am 2 floors up too so could well be a problem.

I planted a load of seedling on the balcony this weekend (a bit early but was sick of them being in the house!) and then a massive storm blew up

Oh well, you live and learn I guess...
