    Evening
Just logged on, bought a subscription and thought I'd have a look through the website. I am completely new to Grow your own. My grandad had a fantastic garden years ago which has given me the umpf to go and do something myself. Haven't got much room as the garden is taken up with most of the kids toys but have bought a mini greenhouse shelf thingy and several pots with my spuds and onions in. So far have planted simple things, radish, lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers etc but everything has started to grow ok so we'll see!! Think I may have been a bit free and easy with the seeds as there is rather a lot of stuff coming up so I may be inundated but at least I'm trying!!! My past experience is only tomatoes which I must admit have been great so lets hope everything takes after them! Night!

My grandad HAD a great gardener - but he was more of a bowling-green-flat-lawn and weedless-borders kind of guy.

Grandad did have the most terrifyingly large rhubarb plant, though - I was told it was poisonous (i.e. the leaves) but took this to heart to the extent that I though that I'd die if I touched it.

You'd think that I'd be psychologically scarred for life after that, but NO!

I make a marvellous rhubarb wine....

Happy gardening, Rekky - welcome to the vine.

Hi and welcome Rekky. Most of us had some gardening guru in our past who gave us the umph! Mine was my Dad.

Gardening should always be a pleasure and never a chore, only someone forgot to tell the weeds
