  • Hello from a small garden in Leics

Hi all, thought I should say hello, having recently joined the ranks of the vegetably-clueless. Been 'doing' gardening for the last three years or so since moving into my partner's bramble patch; have filled it with flowers, frogspawn, water butts and cats, and now want to squeeze in some vegetables too. I don't work at the moment due to depression, anxiety and agoraphobia, so can testify to the therapeutic value of gardening - it is utterly addictive, gives me a sense of routine and purpose, and pure pleasure.

I've grown tomatoes, salad etc in previous years, added runner beans and potatoes in containers last year... and this year the list is a whole lot longer...

Am really pleased to have stumbled across this forum

welcome Sweepster - you are indeed fortunate to have stumbled onto the Vine!
This is a wonderful place to get advice, share experiences, and just chat.
You might want to grab the magazine too - it's a very good one.

As someone who often gets swamped by the stress of life, I can safely say that gardening is a great remedy
I too have gone crazy this year!
    Welcome and keep us posted!!

Hi and Welcome, Couldn't agree more as I have been off work with similar and has been very therapeutic for me. It is certainly very addictive but hugely enjoyable. Good luck

Hi Sweepster, and welcome to the madhouse.

It's interesting to hear from a gardener who's Agoraphobic, as I'm Claustrophobic! (Only mildly, and not officially diagnosed). Good luck with your garden and everything you plant! I'll warn you though, this site is addictive!
