Welcome to the Vine
I'm only just in North Yorkshire by the skin of my teeth tis a lovely place to be.

The veg growing (and seed buying) is very addictive, and so is the forum

whereabouts in North Yorks are you, Ler?
I woke up this morning thinking (amongst other things - like breathing) i must ask if there is anyone on the vine gardening in the Whitby area?
I lived there as a child (actually was a child not pretending to be a child) and had a long standing aim to return and even sorted out the house i wanted but then we found here....and it was cheaper....so stayed.
But i still think about Stoupe Beck House from time to time....

I live in the Selby district wev'e moved from Bradford, so its practically rural here now!! cant have an allotment because of stupid parish/district council rules, so i am going to make the most of my small garden

Hi Ler - you'll find that there's a few of us about in North Yorkshire :-)
Apart from it being nicer here than anywhere else (ducks for cover !), the other thing I am noticing is planting/harvesting times - they are usually either for the south or 'general purpose' which might be a bit off for us northerners - need to adapt for our later start to the growing season. Im sure you'll work that and lots of other stuff out for yourself, but this is the place to discover just how much MORE there is to learn !
