  • Hi there newbie gardener here

    Hi everyone

I've joined the forum yesterday and I have been gardening for about 3 days. Gardening was my dads speciality but he passed away 3 weeks ago so I'm trying to carry on his legacy.

We only moved to Scotland last June and the house we are in has no actual earth to grow stuff in so I am trying to grow everything in containers. We had bought the raised beds, topsoil, compost and manure but hadn't actually started anything.

Fingers crossed that I can grow something at least

Hi and welcome so sorry about your dad but he will guide you I am sure. I got an allotment about a month before my sister died so I look at it that I was meant to get one to take my mind off loosing her.
        Good luck with growing
        Happy gardening

Thanks Jackie. I have never grown anything so this is all a bit of an experiment.

Hello and welcome. Take the advice of the seed packets. They really do mean it when they tell you when you can sow the seeds!
Also, bear in mind that plants WANT to grow. You just have to be careful not to do things to stop them!
                    Good luck.
Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

                          Hi Susie,
Hayes Garden Land is just north of Symington. Hayes Garden Land has a website which gives better directions than I can. I've been in Ayrshire for a few years, originally from Glasgow.
