Hello from Somerset and warning to new allotmenters

Just dropping in to say hello as I've just come across the site. I have a new to me very small allotment in Weston super Mare, or Worle for those that know, measuring all of 12m by 8m, but lovely soil.

Fiddling on the allotment has come to a halt after a month due to injuries caused by over eagerness. On the first day there I damaged by knee, waiting for hospital appointment and last week a tear to achilles tendon! So the family will have to look after things now!

So go easy on a new allotment

Immense symapthy from me for your Achilles injury, I nearly did the same thing, except mine was quite strong and didn't rupture - it pulled the top of my heel bone off instead... It's a long story, but I've been in a cast since the beginning of December and it's very frustrating... Hope it heals well, and quickly for you, and you don't go too demented in the meantime

Hello and welcome, hope the knee heals soon, you will have to be content with sowing your seeds at home at the kitchen table while you let everyone else help with the heavy stuff - quite good result really!!

hi and welcome the injuries i have had over the years, fork through toe was the silliest should always look where one is digging is a lesson learned.
