Me and my other half, Adam have just managed to get an allotment in our village in south Oxfordshire - result! 
Our garden isnt that big, so we had potatoes next to petunias!
Anyway. Spent all afternoon brushcutting and burning on the lottie today. Havent found any soil yet, but we are living in hope. The dogs love it. Broke the lopper, the dog stripped the bark off the apple tree (oops) and we are now totally shattered.
This website is totally brilliant and I cant seem to stop looking at all the brilliant advice, pictures and genuinely nice people. Keep it up.
