plungington road area has lots of student flats,not far from the uni itself.and ashton can be okgood bus service to both areas of town,stay away from moornook,greenlands,brookfield and some parts of fishwick mainly the greaterpart of the callon estate(where i live) the outskirts are ok but it can be a bit daunting for an outsider, tbh there has been loads of building work going on in preston coz of the uni and loads of student flats have sprung up every where if your stuck contact the student union for some help finding a good landlord
