  • What a great site!

Been registered a few weeks and absorbing all the wonderful advice, learning stuff I didn't know I didn't know! IYKWIM

We have a large back garden which has been my Mum's domain for the last 10 years (and the previous 18 at last house). I should add that my Mum moved in temporarily 28 years ago and, at 76, is still with us, luckily we all get on well, hubby, son, Mum and me.

I have grown potatoes and runnerbeans in pots etc for years with varying success but this year Mum had given up a patch of her garden for me to 'do it properly'. I feel this is her way of gradually giving me the garden as she gets beyond the heavy stuff.

My little plot is 8 x 8 ft plus a 6 ft length of border and my 4 x 4 ft gravel patch for pots. Apart from an 8ft run of beans the rest is a mix of a little of lots of veggies until I find out what works best.

Looking forward to getting to know more of you and picking your collective brain.

    Hi Suky and welcome.
This is my first year of growing 'proper' veggies, previously only grown toms. The site is great for advice and tips for getting things germinated, growing on, help with probs etc.

Good luck as we all look forward to harvest time.

Hello suky and welcome! I agree, the site is great. There's a wealth of knowledge out there and everyone is so willing to share. Good luck with your plot.
A good beginning is half the work.

Hi Suky, welcome to the vine! I've learned more on here in the past few months than I every would have done by reading books!

Hi Selfraising, Nice to see a 'nearly' local to me. I grew up in Farnham, went to Weydon CSS (probably not called that anymore LOL).
