  • Hello from Reading!

Hi, I'm new here, I've got an allotment, it's my second year now, although I mostly spent last year clearing away rubbish and digging up stones and weeds -what fun!
I did manage to squeeze in a few veggie plants and had some nice stuff to eat from them, but hoping this year will be a lot more fruitful.
Anyway I'll be hanging round here for a bit of company and advice, and maybe the odd seed swap, look forward to meeting you soon!

Well so far I've got a few beds with permanent stuff: globe artichokes, aparagus, rhubarb, strawbs, and a couple of fruit bushes.
Ive also planted broad beans, 3 varieties of potato, onions, garlic, carrots and parsnips.

And at home I've got hundreds of little seedlings growing, sweetcorn, lettuces, broccoli, kale (cavolo nero), french beans, cabbages, fennel, caulis, courgettes and squashes, in fact probably too many for the moment, but if last year is anything to go by I'll need them because there are a lot of hungry slugs!
I was quite successful with runner beans and swiss chard last year, so they will be having another run.
I'm planning to grow a few things in my garden at home too, tomatoes, rocket, herbs etc, and any spare rainbow chard plants will brighten up my borders.
Wow looking at that list it all sounds very ambitious, I'm sure that there are a lot more that I've missed out too!

Wow that is a lot- If all goes well then you will be eating planty of your own produce for months

I've only started growing stuff this year so it's all a bit of a learning curve for me- but i'm enjoying it and that's what counts.

It would be nice to get some lovely fruit and veg out of it though

Good luck with all your growing though!
