Depends if you are a Chemi or an Organic....

If you like chemis go to pound land and get some slug pellets
If you areOrganic go to starbucks and get some free coffee grounds (they give them away) and sprinkle them round the plants. Slugs and snales don't like them.

Hi dazzel31 and welcome! Loads of good advice here. I'm experimenting with egg shells as a slug repellent, and although everything ok so far, I believe there can be mixed results. I'm going to take NOG's advice and try coffee grounds too.

        Happy gardening.
A good beginning is half the work.

I have been using slug pellets that are " certified for organic use" and i also save all my own egg shells to scatter round the bases of my plants, but if its between slugs/snails then i wont hesitate to use chemical pellets i'm afraid, i've put to much work in to loose any crop..

I use organic pellets and they work a treat. Welcome to the vine, by the way, Dazzle.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Welcome to the madvine Dazzle, it's a really helpful little community we have here.

Snails when caught get thrown to the chooks/veloceraptors. I'm on an experimentation (is that a word?) with oyster shell chicken grit (very cheap and comes in bulk), currently surrounding my green lettuce/herb bed. got a few little greens poking their little heads out so hopefully will have some news on how it's going in a few weeks.

Chickens are also good as said but they will eat the plants as well.
