  • I'm going to stop lurking !!!

    Hello all !!!

My other half has been telling me off for lurking for sometime now so....since you all seem like a very friendly and helpful bunch I thought that it was about time that I stopped hiding and came out to play !

I suspect that my other half might be glad that I have someone else to gabble to about my obsession..tee hee.

Well a little about me, I'm 31, live in Ashford, Middlesex and have been growing things since I was young. I've had my (very) small home for the last four years and have been trying to grow and fit as much into the garden as both the space and my job allows.

This is the first year that I've really tried to grow a spread of goodies, ranging from:

    Peas (waverex, M.T, Feltham First)
Toms (yellow sub, tumbling tom, red alert, first in field, beef, San M and moneymaker)
Sweetcorn (mini pop at the mo but planning more)
    Basil (normal and lemon)
    Runner beans (red rum)
    Garlic
    Chilly (Tokyo Hot)
    Rocket, Gem and Lolla Rossa
    Spinich
    Cucumber (Marketmore)
    Courgette
Blackcurrents (of which there are only 5 but perfectly formed promises !) and
    Goosberries

(Wow I didn't realise that I had so much !)

I've got so much from my "lurking" or visits to this site, so a massive thank you to you all!!

Welcome and keep sowing, posting, failing, succeeding and enjoying growing !!
The proof of the growing is in the eating.

Welcome Bagpuss. Lurking is an occupational hazard I am afraid.

My OH is always asking why I am chuckling to myself sitting here at the computer. When I tell him I am reading the posts on the GYO forum, he looks at me bemused but it is great to read about other people plights and successes and to know that you are not the only seed growing obsessed person in this universe. My house looks like Kew Gardens at the moment and all I want to do is grow more, terrified that the 30 tomato plants etc will not be enough. Must get a grip! Anyway good luck and enjoy.

Hello Bagpus & welcome to the Vine.
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

Hi and welcome - sounds like you are shoe-horning a lot into that small garden!
Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Nice try Sweepster...I've been wondering all day whether I had any more replies !! I'm back for more.

I know what you all mean about the space issue. I'm trying to pursuade the other half that it's time to move. Truth be known, it's only because I want a larger garden, which in turn will give another excuse to buy more seeds !!!
