  • Hello!

    Hi!

I am a newbie Gardener as of this spring. I have recently cleared my garden as it was a jungle and am left with a square of soil, which i want to try and turn into some sort of lawn and a lot of patio.

I'm planning on growing veg in containers including - Toms, Strawberries, Sweetcorn (i like a challenge!), perpetual spinach and peppers plus a few easy to grown flowers like Candytuft and sunflowers to brighten it up a bit.

I've been a browser on here for a while and would like to get a bit more involved

You sound a bit like me, i had to clear a jungle but it was so worth every minute of blood sweat and back ache!! I am attempting to grow swwetcorn but suspect i may have planted out a bit early but we learn as we go. I have learned loads from the other posts on here and am loving every minute of it!!

I'm popping mine in those checked old laundry bags people take to the launderette .. the huge ones lined with black bags! it's going to take quite a bit of soil but that way i can pop them in blocks so they pollenate ... at least thats the plan! i started mine off in newspaper pots .. as learnt from here, gunna give mine a little longer before planting out but i am so excited!

I bet those bags would be really good for growing tatas as well- plenty of space for earthing them up, i'll be keeping that in mind when i next grow tatas!

              I bet it does

Certainly sounds like your patio is a bit more exciting to look at then mine- my pots and veg baskets are plain old green
