  • Helleau!!!

    I've just spotted this thread...duh!

    So, hello!

I'm Jules. I'm married and live in Somerset with my Assistant gardener and our junior gardeners. I organise craft fairs for a living (hence I'm continually broke) and design textile homewear and other sewn things.

I'm fairly experienced with basic lawn & flowers type gardening, but this year we are growing veggies - usual beginners things, potatoes, beans, salad leaves, peas, chard, spring onions, radishes, carrots and strawberries. We're enjoying every minute of it.

When we can afford a holiday (not for 3 years), we go to Switzerland, so I'm hoping for big success wth my Alpine Strawberries and thinking of turning a raised rockery over to them instead of flowers as we love the tiny sweet berries.

I've got four children of 23, 19, 15 and 12. The youngest is keen on gardening or spending large amounts at the garden centre, the others are busy being a chemist, a falconer and a GCSE student/stroppy teenager.

Already, in the few days I've been on the Grapevine I've learned loads!! It's fab here. Thanks everyone for A1 advice.

A good beginning is half the work.
Praise the young and they will make progress.

          I'm having a ball!

          It's great here!

There is SO much to learn, and what better way to do it. I feel quite confident that I can come here ask the most doofus questions and I'll get help, not condescention.

I've even bought the GYO mag and have had my head stuck in when I haven't been on here today. I have found time to visit my garden in between!

I haven't though done any proper work today, or any sewing. Oh! I've just realised! I sew and I sow......how cheesy is that! LOLOLOL

Sweepster, your cat is just gorgeous! We've got a black & white called Desmond. He's got the biggest character of all our moggies. Two of our three week old kittens are also b&w.
