  • Hi, I'm new on here and need your help

Hi, I'm hoping someone can give me some advise, I planted 5 gherkin seeds and they have all come up looking very strong, I'm now wondering do they climb up canes or netting or do they grow along the ground, are they outdoor plants or can I grow them in a polytunnel, hoping someone can help with my confusion

    Thanks

    Dave (smallbrook)

I grow gherkins outdoors but I'm sure they would do very well in a tunnel. Once they get going they tend to send out long sprawling stems that trail along the ground. Because this is untidy and innefficient on space I tie the stems up on posts so they are off the ground and forced to grow in an upright manner. They do not climb naturally

If you let them sprawl on the ground, the slugs will have 'em
