Hi from sunny North Devon

Hi Everyone,

I am very new to this and stumbled upon this forum while looking for how to build a raised bed!

I live in north Devon and have got a sizeable garden which si the first I have ever had and want to try my hand at growing veggies.

I am off to build my raised bed now as I have 1 tonne of topsoil coming tomorrow and I now have a vague idea what I should be doing.

At least you had a nice afternoon for it - I was in Barnstaple this afternoon and it was lovely (or it would have been if I wasn't working!). Welcome to the Vine - let us know how you get on with the bed.

Raised bed all built and filled

Phew, glad that is finished! I now have a 2.4m long x 1.2m wide x 40cm deep raised bed filled with a mix of topsoil and mushroom compost ready for planting at the weekend!

I am going to put sprouts, sweetcorn and petit pois seedlings down one end then swede and spring onion seeds down the other then I am going to have Pimms corner (mint, strawbs and cucumber!).

Green fingers crossed some of it will grow!!!

I'm liking the idea of a Pimms Corner! Don't forget some Borage - those little purple flowers are just the job!
