  • New to growing my own - Please identify these veg?

    Hi all,

This is my 2nd year of growing my own veg......last year I tried a mix of various seeds, this year I am trying the same.
However, I mixed up my propogators and now can't identify what I've got growing!.....and ideas?

    Thanks,

    Ian.

    Here's the pics:-

PS. Ignore the tag in the first pic, thats for the pepper at the foot of the photo.

Do you know what seeds you started with?
First pic looks like radish and last a brasica.

Not an expert, but as previous, knowing what seeds you have may be a good start - you know, process of elimination.

I'd say first pic = possibly Rocket (some rocket looking leaves there).
Second pic = a radish of some description may even be swede? Second thoughts, did you have any oriental mustards?
Third pic = definately a brassica - hard to tell what though!

My first thought on pic 1 was spinach with maybe some rocket growing with it, The rocket is the segmented leaf but the rest looks like young perpetual spinach.

Pic 2 could that be a turnip of some kind? Looks like some small white turnip I have right now (leaves delicious as well as the roots by the way).

Pic 3 is definitely a brassica - cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage?

        Have fun and enjoy!

Don't know exactly what they are but I'm sure my chooks would relish ALL of them!

              1) chard/beet, with rocket underneath it (and a labelled chilli under that)
              2) radish/turnip
              3) brassica

First pic: possibly spinach, with rocket too
                Second: raddish
Third: Cabbage, sprouts? but definately a brassica
A good beginning is half the work.

Top one looks like a cut and come again salad mix.

bottom 2 as the others have said.

Cant offer any additional info on the identification - but the plant next to the top one looks like its got slugs!

                    Get 'em zapped, quick!

                      Rocket
                      Radish (possibly turnip)
Brassica (cabbage?) Incidentally, there's at least two plants there, you might want to thin them out.

Saying that Snadger, I have sown free seeds (we all must get loads of them in mags etc) into 10 large pots when they are a decent height I put them in the chook house.

As for the pics I would go for spinach and rocket for the first, and cabbage for the last.
