Well I am Donna and very new to growing my own!

I have just bought a plastic green house and have Iceberg Lettuce, sweet peppers, tumbling tomatoes, beetroot, peas and cucumber plants as well as dwarf nad french bean seeds in it at the moment - outside I have strawberries ,mint and about to put potatoes in pots this weekend. Any advice would be welcome!!!!

Hello. If you need to free a bit of space up then I suggest you put the peas, beetroot and lettuce outside. The dwarf beans can go out during the day (and soon 24 / 7 round here) as can the tomatoes.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Alison - I will be putting the lettuce out as soon as I get home as per your advice on the under cover thread!

I do my lettuce in troughs on my windowsill. That way you avoid the slugs:-)

I have also been reading through the older posts and might try the cut off 2 litre plastic bottles around them until they get older - might help with my "droopy" leaves and stop the slugs!

No sign of the little blighters in the salad in the house. been eating homegrown for a couple of months from my troughs I do agree they can get most places though. Can't stand them
