Exciting! Clear a small patch and put something in to spur you on to clear the rest!

Hi Fizzy. Welcome and good luck with your plot. I used to live Belvedere, stream way, allotments at end of road, so if you are there its a nice spot.

Hi thanks for all of your messages, I have cleared about 3/4 of the brambles and will now start digging out some of the roots, the plot hasn't been used for a few years and as such has a fair amount of rubbish to clear also. I will upload some photo's as I make progress.

Yes I also have an area where glass ahs been left luckily most of it is still in sheets so will be easy to remove. Have now started to dig the plot over, so hoping to get some winter veg's going soon.

I also had lots of metal posts and wire and a wheelbarrow and watering cans, they have been really useful!! It is really satisfying getting stuck in, good luck with it.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown
