  • Hi all

I've had a look at this forum a few times in the past and have finally decided to join. I've been growing things for most of my life (since I was 7 anyway), mostly indoors on window sills. I've had my own garden now for the past 7 years which I have planted mostly for the benefit of wildlife. For the past three years, I've been growing some veg in containers. I've grown Baby Carrots, Radishes, Tomatoes, Lettuce and for the first time last year, I grew Peas. I also tried growing Sweetcorn (in the ground) last year but it wasn't sucessful. Tomatoes haven't been sucessful either. This year, I've put my Sweetcorn in grow bags plus two in the ground, the ones in the grow bags have more than doubled since I planted them.

This year, for the first time, I've started growing Strawberries and would like to try other fruits too. I'm moving some plants from my back garden to make room for other produce but I'm not yet sure about what else I want to grow.

Welcome to the Vine Glen Ample.
There's plenty of info on here about growing in containers.
I grow in my own kitchen garden in raised beds but I've grown lots in containers and still do some things that way - onions, garlic and shallots do well in bread crates and I grow my potatoes in buckets.
Beans do well in a container and give a great crop from a small space.
Look forward to hearing how you are getting on.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
