Newbie here

Hi all, i have just joined your lovely forum.
My name is Debb, and i live in Birmingham with my dh paul and 3 girls, 22, 13 and 10. I work part time as a teaching assistant.
We have a smallish back garden which i love to fill with plants, flowers and the odd tomato.
We also have a allotment, we have had it about 2 years now and was very lucky in getting one before the " rush" started, we walked in to inquire and walked out with the keys.
We grow a variety of things, but struggle with peas.
The girls have no interest sadly, although we have tried.
Anyway thats all about me for now.

Hi and welcome. Peas? I don't think they are difficult to grow. Wonder how you're doing it? Try sowing in modules or root trainers first instead of direct. Little critters don't gert to eat the seeds then!

Welcome along! I am new too so am in the same boat as you!
I live in North Devon where all it ever does is rain, grrrr!
I used to hate gardening too but love it now so don't give up on your kids, keep feeding them lovely stuff off the allotment and when they leave home and have to buy supermarket food they will want an allotment of their own surely??

Hi Debb, welcome to the Vine. Your girls are probably a little too old to get them interested in gardening and growing. You need to catch them young. I used to follow my lovely Grandad around when I was about 3 and he let me have my own little patch on his allotment. Carried on from there and still keen 56 years later.

wellcome to the forum gonetoseed, im sure you will get the advice regarding your growing problems, perhaps your not giving the peas time. In the word of John Lennon "Give peas a chance" sorry couldn't help myself

Hi & welcome. Pea's I sow mine in some old plastic rain troughing in the greenhouse and when they are ready I make a drill and slide the little plants in.
