  • Hello from Hampshire

    hi Guys newbie here.
I am just about to go at veggies properly after a succesfull halh hearted attemp this year where I grew, Cougettes, carrots, spuds, beans, peas and lettuce.
i am going to build to raised veg beds in the garden and a propigator cabnit the veg beds will be 6ft X 4ft and I have a couple of questions.
Is it best to attach some copper ribbon around the edges to stop the slugs?
One of my beds is in the sun all day whilst the other one is in the sun until late afternoon will this be ok?

    I am looking to grow
    Onion
    Spuds
    Runner Beans
    Peas
    Carrots
    Caugette
    Lettuce

Can anyone add any veg that is not to diffecult to grow?

Welcome privateb! No harm in putting copper round, though they are Wiley bug@*rs and find a way! Happy growing.

Hi Private, Welcome to the vine....Arrrr things to grow in a raised bed? How about Broad Beans, Peas, Radish, Courgette's. I bought two arch's this year, I'm growing Runner Beans over one and the other I'm growing Squash over..make use of the space over your bed's...plus the plants underneath get some shade, Good Luck. xx

          Hi Privateb.
Your stuff will grow fine with sun most/all of the day. No worries there.

Copper may help, as may beer traps etc but the old slugs are quite crafty.
What do you like to eat? No point in me saying grow radish cos they're easy, if you dont like them.
Grow what you like to eat, not stuff just cos its easy, much more reward when it's harvested.

          Good luck.
