  • Hi from Northumberland

Just wanted to say hello to everyone from here in Northumberland. It's warm and sunny today and everything in the garden is rosey - or I hope it will be by next year

Hi Will, welcome from me too. What are you growing? Where are you growing it? How long have you had it? Crikey, don't I ask a lot of questions?

Thank you all for your welcome
Can't help with the sun I'm afraid as we need all we can get up here.
As for whatwherehowlongetc.............................I'll post some info and pics later when I find which bit to post them on Suffice it to say that we've been here over twenty years and I retired early when in my mid forties and busied myself with the house itself, but it's only in the last couple of years I've taken to the garden - it's great. Just wish I'd seen it as a pleasure rather than a chore years ago. Silly me

I think my OH would be mightily jealous of you - he's been trying to retire for the last 10 years, and he's only 42!! However, we've been self-building for the last two years, and couldn't have afforded that if he had retired - not on my wages

I didn't get into gardening until I had my own, my mother was an avid gardener, but was reluctant to let anyone else dabble. She just used to drag us round gardens during our holidays - which really put me off. Now, I've got two gardens and an allotment and I love it!!

Becki early retirement does have it's advantages but also it's disadvantages. People assume you have time on your hands and expect you to be able to do this that or the other for them at the drop of a hat. I've just got back from the school run and am having a coffee before getting into the garden. SWMBO has also left me a list of things that have to be done today so I'll ony have an hour and a half before I have to go again. I expect to be back at around 1-00pm then I'll have two hours before the school run again. By the time I get the mob fed and watered it will be 5-00pm then the rest of the day is mine
              Retirement - no
              Early - yes
              Free time - you're joking
Good luck with the self build - it's nice to know it's all your own work!
