As Flummery says, salads and leafy veg will do OK. You can sow some Chinese veg now, and winter lettuces.

Brilliant.. Thanks loads for the advice. I shall follow the links and learn..

As promised, pics of the 'garden' can be found here - I thought it was better to post them elsewhere..!

      Out & about...

I really need step-by-step instructions, aimed at about an 8yr old!

      thanks

Um, Notbob: why is your clematis pot suspended in the air?

I was going to identify some of your plants in the blog, but I can't leave comments? Can you enable that?

Hi Notbob, this bob elm I've been reading about your gardening experiences.
I too am a beginner to this web site and I'm interested in how you went about putting your photos on here.
This can be a very clever way of showing the "gurus" on this site how things are growing etc etc.
Do you think you could explain this procedure to me??

Lol @ Two sheds.. Um, I really don't know why I suspended the clematis in mid air - I thought you had to erm so that they would know which way to grow....?

Can I put them on the ground then? and should plants be left in the flimsy pots they come in from the garden centre? I will enable comments on the blog - identification would be great...

Bob elm - I certainly can - would you like me to email some instructions or post them here?

You're pulling my leg right? Have you ever seen a plant growing in mid-air?

btw, I've put a few comments on your blog. Please don't think me rude I just want to help

Hi.. nope definitely not the same person as Bob Elm, And certainly not a wind-up - ! (well not on my part anyway - I wouldn't waste my or anyone else's time..)

As for the mid-air plants. I honestly thought thats how you got them to go up, so to speak!... I wanted them to grow up the arches and meet in the middle, to form a sort of canopy I suppose.... I will go and look at your comments re the pics, do you want me to reply here?

                  Cheers
