hi i'm a lady going on for retirement just a few years left if i can afford it lol. living in doncaster south yorkshire and got my allotment in january this year. i read a lot mainly fantasy and sci fi but just about anything with a good plot that is well written, i also enjoy playing everquest and course fishing. my allotment was in a bad state when i got it and i got comments like, 'you've taken on something there misus' and 'i would'nt have taken that one on'. but i am made of sterner stuff lol, or perhaps i just enjoy pain.

Welcome to the Vine, Crazywitch. Me too looking for retirement (if I can afford it) so I can spend time gardening and with my kids and grandchildren. Go for your plot, and prove you can do it.

Welcome, Crazywitch. I've said it before, (and I don't think anyone believes me!) but having in the past taken on an immaculate plot and one which you couldn't even enter because the brambles were so thick and high, it's the weedy one which I prefer. OK, so it needed a lot of work, but I was able to lay it out as I wanted it and not how someone else had wanted it. It took a long time to reach the point where everything was right, but at least I wasn't trying to follow the previous tenant's illogical crop rotation and the fruit bushes were not 'in the way', as I'd always felt with the good plot.
            Good Luck with yours.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.
