Welcome PeteC and it's nice to swell the numbers of us southerners! There won't be much that you can't find out here! Coupled with a few ideas (sometimes even mine!) that are just plain bonkers. And every so often something in the air comes over people and the vine starts zinging with jokes and banter - hilarious if you are on your own with the computer and a glass of wine or two!
The purple signature that appears below my post is the product of just such an occasion not so long ago!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Hi! I'm new here too, but am not new to gardening or veg growing. It's quite addicitive. I agree that there is no feeling in the world like when you see your 1st seedling pop up out of the ground or when you pull up your 1st crop to eat. Enjoy!

Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

          Hi Pete C.
Apparently native Americans used to bury a fish under plants to feed the plant a the fish rotted. And in New Zealand, apparently some criminal types are poaching from the rivers to bury the fish under illegal cannabis plantations.

But Halibut is a little expensive, so manure is possibly a better alternative.

You will really really be glad you took the plunge into growing your own food. I used to find gardening a chore but love my allotment. So relaxing, especially when you have a glass of red at hand and so fullfilling when you can barbecue and eat all your home grown produce (with yet another glass of red!!). And then of course you can come on here when your day of digging is done and talk to other like minded growers (with yet another glass of red!!!!). Have fun and just enjoy
