    hello
i'm a retired forrester, i have my own allotment now that i have plenty of time to grow things, my allotment is not very far from the coast, well two streets to be exact but it does'nt seem to make a difference, i have a love of the old victorian ways of gardening also of the same varieties they grew.

Hi and welcome the the vine. There's quite a few of us on here who also enjoy growing heritage varieties. Looking forward to doing a seed swap with you one day.

Hi OldTreeMan - you chose such a descriptive name! Welcome to the vine - I hope you find the other grapes on the grapevine helpful and informative - as well as enjoy the jokes that go on! One or two of us are into the old ways of growing things - until we get frustrated and have to try something newfangled!

Hi Old Tree Man and welcome to the grapevine! I'm hoping to start growing some heritage varieties for the first time next year. Glad to hear that lots of people/grapes are still interested in the old varieties. As Snadge says - the old ones are sometimes the best
