Hi and welcome! BLinking 'eck you've done a brilliant job of knocking it into shape! Good luck and may you both have many years of happy growing especially now that you have 1 each

That looks fab, i love a challenge and would love to get stuck into that.
I have just got another half plot that looks in the same condition to your new plot and i am itching to get started once the ground has thawed out abit.
        Enjoy!

Thanks for the welcome guys. It was a mammoth task. We did have help however, in the shape of Mr petrol strimmer and Mr petrol hedge cutter thing, (not sure of its actual name).

As well as hard graft, it was good fun, we keep being visited by the more established plot holders who offer advise and friendly chat. We had a bar-b-q on the plot on bonfire night and invited all those who had helped and been friendly. It went down well and we seem to have established the thought of an 'entertainment' section on the commitee.

We use freecycle a lot and have managed to get sheds, greenhouse, guttering, slabs and all manner of useful stuff. The intention from the outset was to recycle as much as possible and be as organic as possible. We'll see how it turns out.

We were lucky to get the plot. We just happened to drive by the site and saw a sign that said plots were available. Went in and was offered a half plot and was told it was the last one and to come back the following day (Sunday) when the commitee met. We did so and managed to talk ourselves in to the full plot. They were not going to let it as it was so overgrown.

I think that to have taken it on now would have been more daunting with the cold and the wet, but back in the summer, we could use the evenings and it was warmer, so it didn't seem like a chore.

How fabulous - I just love seeing the pics - I used freecycled slabs on mine too, qplate, with freecycled vinyl flooring strips underneath! Are those trees at the bottom of your new plot yours? If so, what are they? (Yeah, I know, I'm nosy!)
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

On our original plot, we have pear trees and a grape vine. The pear crop this year was tremendous so my brother in law is making a very large quantity of plum wine. The vine is small and has been untended for years but did produce a very small amount of red grapes.
Our 'new' plot has fruit trees too. Pear cooking apple and eating apple. I don't know which variaties though.

We haven't wanted to encroach on the tree areas with our main planting areas, so we have fenced these areas off. On our original plot, we have our sheds, and their will be a greenhouse within the tree area. On our new plot, the tree area has been fenced in totally so we have a dog friendly area that they can't get out of and yet still be with us when we are on the plot.

Welcome to the vine. It looks like you've done an amazing amount of hard work and can look forward to some good produce.
