Maybe I should have picked a better user name!

The "Windy" bit refers to my garden! Nothing else.

I am in Glasgow and started growing veggies in my back garden last year. I made a raised bed 7 x 1 m from old scaffolding boards. Also planted in tub trugs and pots.

I have two mini plastic greenhouses which blow away all the time so am saving up for a sturdy polycarb one.

Hi Sindy. Raised beds, polycarb greenhouse and a windy site here too! Love the beds and the greenhouse, although I've had to 'reinforce' the panels of the latter to stop blowouts. Lots of grapes would probably recommend glass rather than polycarb because of the wind, but I wouldn't change mine. A bamboo cane wedged diagonally across the larger panes (that bear the brunt of the wind) is all I need to keep things right. Polycarb retains the heat for longer and mine has proved football proof too!

Brown, blighty tomatoes mainly


Had better success with garlic, shallots, spring onions, courgettes, carrots, turnips, spuds, asparagus-peas, chillis (only3), cucumber (only 2), dwarf beans and herbs. Also some strawberries and blueberries. Killed my rhubarb though
