  • Hi from rainy Aberdeen

    Hi

I've been "lugging" in for a while but this is my first post.

Had a lottie for about 2 years and still finding it a bit of a struggle so I like to have a look on here to give me motivation.

Looking at the weather for the weekend I'm not sure whether I'm glad or sad that we're in for more snow as I haven't so much as set foot on the lottie since Christmas Eve (to pick sprouts).

Anyone else in the north of Scotland finding it hard to get going this year. :-)

Hi Plot10, welcome aboard the good ship Grapevine - may she serve you well.

As for looking on here for motivation...

No, shan't go into that again, Ollie will have me in lycra again before you know it!

You've been to your plot more recently than me - good effort.

If you plonk your location in your profile others locally will be able to share your weather woes, and also help out when it comes to planting out and so forth.

Enjoy your stay, may it be a long one.

Thanks a lot guys, I've updated my profile to include my location, although the Silver City is more gunmetal grey today and the Golden Sands under a layer of fog!!

Still, might stick my nose over the allotment fence on Saturday, just to check it's still there!

            Hi Plot 10

Welcome. I can sympathise with your woes......being from the same part of the world I'm getting a bit fed up with this weather also. I started my indoor sowing in the kitchen this week, and it fair motivated me to get out to the garden and start preparing. However, with snow forecast for the next 4 days - don't think much will be happening. Will just need to read the catalogues, do the planner and watch Good Life repeats!

Hi and welcome. This time of year it is hard to get motivated. Once stuff is ready for picking you're up there at all hours. If you haven't got your ground ready and seed sown in time though, there's nowt to pick! A bit of sunshine wouldn't do us any harm!

                    Welcome aboard.
There's not a lot to be done on the plot at the moment, but I've bought my shallots today to put into modules, did a bit of weeding (speedwell and groundsel is about to flower)

Hi Plot 10 and welcome to the vine, I hope you don't send the snow down here, I've had enough of the stuff for this year thanks, What are you thinking of growing this season, I mainly concentrate on beans (broad, runner, french), squash, courgettes and tomatoes, but I pop other things in between, I've got quite a good selection of fruit bush's as well for this year, hope you enjoy your stay on the vine.

                              Hi Plot 10.
Don't be down hearted, there are lots of us in the same boat as yourself! I always get the itch to get out and growing at this time of year, but mother nature is always in control and to be honest I won't be putting anything in the ground here until March! Why not spend this time planning and 'plotting' for the season ahead. It will pay off.

Welcome aboard! and good luck with the growing.
