  • Perth in gloom

Just introducing myself, I'm a passionate amature gardener. I seem to learn every year that I know very little about gardening. This winter was very severe here and seemed to last for an age. Last year I planted a passion fruit against the front of the house and it did remarkably well. However I think it's dead. It is straw-coloured and looking dead. Can any one tell me if it is a lost cause or will time and a bit of TLC do the trick? Thanks to all who reply.

    Welcome PiP

I don't have a passion fruit plant so don't know first-hand, but I do know of other gardeners who have lost them through this last winter

      Mine dies back every year.
We had -13C last winter and it pulled through.
We've cut it back a couple of weeks ago.
I'd say just wait and see- ya never know!!

oh- and welcome to the Vine!!!

Welcome to the vine potty, scrape a bit of the bark with your fingernail. If its green, it's ok.

Welcome to the vine PIP - I think you are in with a fighting chance with it being against the house wall - which will have given it quite a bit of protection. I was really surprised to find my lemon tree still going after being left outside the back door all winter - and I know there was snow and ice all over the cover.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?
