Welcome to the vine Keepondiggin - clearly not a fan of the no-dig method then?

Hello and welcome to the Vine. Whereabouts in Preston do you have your lottie? I've had mine for 4 years now, near Penwortham. What are you growing this year? Lets hope for more sunshine this summer! Looking forward to reading your posts. Feel free to ask any questions you want - or use the search facility - we are all a friendly bunch on here!

                        G'Day Dexterdoglancashire!

My God, you're wishing for more sunshine! We get so much of it Down Under we can export it to the rest of the universe! Our problem is too much of it! We are currently going out of summer into autumn and only less than three weeks away from our first decent frost, and our maximum temperatures are still in the 90s F (around 30C). It's absolutely bizarre! That said I still have a steady supply of ripe tomatoes and their flavour is superb! I wish we could get them all year round, but then again if we did we would take them for granted. It's the long tomato-less season that stirs up our passion for them, isn't it?

                        Cheers.

Hi DDL-I'm near PNE- so far have got garlic in doing well from end of last year-will be putting the first early potatoes and onion sets (with carrots in between) in tomorrow (subject to weather?), and have various peas, broad beans under cover to be transplanted into growing areas and have just sown 2 different kinds of leeks in a cold frame.Next month will be quite a few other beans French,Runner,Borlotti then I'm a courgette fan so will be sowing quite a few different ones and also have some chillies and tomatoes started in the house.... and will hopefully fit in some beetroot, radishes, salad, spinach parsnips and Jerusalem Artichokes and the odd squash or 2
