  • Hello from Norway

Hi i am an Expat living in Norway. I enjoyed my first year of Growing my own last year. With a raised bed and a few pots, but hope to build some more raised bed this year.
I enjoyed success with peas, Strawberrys grown in window boxes, and some lettuce.
Stuggled with my Fruit plants, (Gooseberrys and Blackcurrents) but think i need to move them to a better place in my Garden.
I look forward to learning from advice and tips on this web site.

    Nick

Well i hope i can find out some of the Local Tips. As far as the seasons here in Rena we pretty much only have 2 seasons Winter and Summer, The Spring and Autums are very short. We have had Snow on the ground now since November and i dont expect it to be gone for at least 2 more weeks.
So i plant my seeds about 1 month after the first dates on the packets but they do catch up as the sun only goes down for 3 hours in the summer here.
And i cover the Raised beds with plastic until may.

Welcome. You certainly have different growing conditions.

                  Hej Nick

We have offices in Norway but I've not yet had the pleasure of a visit.

Sounds like a bit of a challenge growing there though.

                  Nice to have you aboard.

                      Have you got any rhubarb???

We have a friend who lives almost on the Arctic circle in Sweden and they have rhubarb which survives the long cold winters under 3 metres of snow!

If I recall they had it showing bud in June!!- 3 months later than here!!!!
Just enough time for one decent picking.
I'm sure you'd do better with it further south.
