  • Hello from Scotland

Hello, I've just joined the site. Originally from Wales but have lived in Scotland now for 18 years and this past winter was the worst I can remember here but the daffodils are out now which is cheering even though they got covered by 20cms of snow again last week!
I grow most of the flowers for my garden and have a greenhouse but am fairly new to veg growing so very keen to take advantage of all the good advice I've seen on the various threads.

Greetings from Down Under. Hope you like it here.

Thank you all for your messages of welcome. I'm sure I'll do better with my veg this year with help at hand. Much as I love my flowers you can only eat certain ones!

Hi I see you grow in raised beds and pots too. I was puppy walking for Guide Dogs for the Blind so my husband made me great raised beds last year out of the way of big paws He put a frame over them with insect protection netting too and I also used pots. It was a modest start but I got the bug and hope to grow much more this year and this is such a friendly site for advice.

I'm a raised bed fan too Fern. Our lottie is on solid clay/chalk, and would have taken a very long time to cultivate from scratch. Raised beds were definately the best answer for us, and it makes weeding so easy too!!
