  • Hello from Hertfordshire :)

Another newbie here, new to the forum and the art of growing veggies!

We're in our first year of attempting to grow our own veggies in our back garden. We currently have 3 raised beds, plus a small 6x4 greenhouse, as well as various other containers etc, and have a slightly over exuberant list of things we are growing in it

Will almost definately mess things up and require advice on repairs from those in the know!!

Hello and welcome from me too.
There's nothing wrong with some excess exuberance , I think a lot of us on here has that.

Thanks everyone, I have already asked my first question! Hopefully someone will be able to help my poor tomatoes and save them from my killer green-fingers!

Excess exuberance is great and costs a lot to fund also, we are going to poundland and wilkos tomorrow for gardening bargains also Our growing list currently stands at:

Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Peppers, Cape Gooseberry (bush type), Baby Sweetcorn, Potatoes, Onions (Seed and Set types, cos the seed ones were a bit of a non-event!), Broccoli, 2 types of peas, 2 types of lettuce, Wild Rocket, Kale, Carrots, a self-blanching celery (which might be too hopeful!), Melons (which also might be!)...and I am sure there are some that I have forgotten... We have two strawberry planters and a herb pot too. I also have an asparagus root and a rhubarb root thingy which I plan to plant, but I'm aware that you don't harvest from them for at least a year or two!

welcome to the vine!! As others have said, excess exuberance is par for the course around here - you can only learn if you try!
Your planting list looks yummy. Good luck with it all!

Thanks perkin - my only regret is that it didn't even occur to me to grow different varieties of the same veg...now 4 Alicante tomatoes and 3 Femspot F1s seem too samey compared to some of the others I've been reading about on the forums! Ah well, next year I will not just pick up the first seeds I see and plant an entire propogator with them
