  • newbie to the forum & new plot holder!

    Hi everyone,

i just have recieved my first allotment plot! i am SO excited and so is my 6 yr old! i'm a bit clueless so ive joined the forum! although i've succesfully managed to get our herb box at home flourishing and managed to make two mint cuttings root. lol!

i've been on the allotment waiting list for about 3 years and it was a stroke of luck that my plot owner called, its actually off the side of her home. she was talking to the manager of the allotment list who said about the waiting list, my lady said she had loads of growing space that was once used for veggie growing, the manager then gave her my number and here i am, the new owner of a (free!) allotment plot..well i say allotment.it has a lot of work to be done on it, but i have a shed and lots of enthusiasm!

my other half things i'm off my head, i'm only 26 and havean allotment!, but assured him when me and our son have grown lots of tasty things he wont be getting any of them! lol. i'm oing to ake some piccies on saturday of my new plot

i'm sure i'll be around asking loads of questions!

Welcome to the vine Baby Blue - you are in the right place, here. There are several Grapes who are in just the same situation as you are - starting a new plot with a little 'un and a sceptical partner!
Take a camera, and a notebook with you when you visit the plot. Oh, and only tackle a little bit at a time - clear one patch and plant immediately with something you like to eat. This time of year I'd advise buying lettuce and a courgette plug plants unless you have some already started at home! Oh and sweetcorn is just about ready to go out as well - now the family will love the crops from that.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?
