The joys of sanctuary

Hi folks
This is my second season as a plot holder and at last I am coming to terms with the 100ftx30ft stretch of cooch grass given to me by our local council. Best of all is getting away from the rat race, forgetting my hassles and just giving myself to the plot. Growing veg and fruit keeps me busy,I have little or no time for the real world when I get here,this is my sanctuary and I love it.

That the one thing about allotment keeping that no-one can measure. You can work out how much money you've saved or what weight of produce you take home, but there's no measure for the peace of an hour or two on the plot.

Welcome to the vine Iggyboy - and thank you for a useful reminder of the more uplifting side of having a plot alongside the frantic workouts! The best bits to me are the early morning visit, wandering round having a look to see what is happening - before starting on the tasks. And the evening slot, after the day's work is done, when the plot is looking good. Those are the camera opportunities.
