  • Hi from veggie mama

    Hi, I am veggie mama

This is our second year growing veg.

We just had one vegetable patch last year and a herb/salad patch.

This year however we have 5 vegetable patches one herb/salad patch and a large polytunnel.

In the polytunnel i am growing
Peas...they are nearly over now, i just put a few to start off with.
    Melon
    Cape gooseberry
    Tomatoes and
    Peppers
Strawberries...I have moved these out now because it seemed too hot for them, also i needed room for the tomatoes (way too many)

I have growing in my garden
    onions
    Garlic
    Shallots
    Spring onions

    3 different cabbages
    Broccoli

    Peas
    Mange-tout
    sweetcorn
    broad beans
    runner beans
    dwarf french beans
    climbing french beans

    beetroot
    lots of lettuce
    Potatoes
    pumpkins
    blackberries
    currants
was supposed to be growing raspberries but they havent shown any growth since i planted them
    rhubarb
    chard rhubarb
    cucumbers
    butternut squash
    corguette
    fennel
    baby carrots
    parsnips
    carrots
    lots of lettuce
    Rocket
    wild rocket
    spinach
    pea shoots

    Herbs
    sage
    rosemary
    basil
    corriander
    thyme
    lemon scented thyme
    orange scented thyme
creeping thyme (i use a lot of thyme cooking)
    chives
    garlic chives
russian tarragon (am gonna grown french tarragon from seed next)
Lots of curly and flat leaf parsley
    lemon balm
samphire (new plant that i need to get into a big pot)
I want to add lots more herbs as the bed is quite big.

I have 2 apple trees plated last year. An eating one..we didnt get any fruit of this last year and despite a bumper flowering this year...alas no fruit as yet....advice please for this one

Cooking apple we got one apple from this last year and i keep checking it now for little apples.

Everything seems to be growing quite well. I am sure i have more things planted, but cant think right now.

I have 2 children. One of which has autism Growing our own vegetable is helping him too. He loves to help out as does my other son. My husband was never into gardeing until i started growing the vegetables. We are a good team in that I, sow the seeds, nurture them and generally look after them. He cuts the grass, helps me with the digging and he actually loves to weed Good job as there is so much to do

I could work in the garden all day. I dont work because it is a lot of work with my son, whom i also teach at home (he does go to school but also needs to be taught at home too) I love it. Lots of fresh air being close to nature and eating what we grow......aaahhhhhh.....its just like heaven.

Anyway, i have been reading your forum for quite a while picking up tips, so thought i would pop on (especially as i was worried about my peppers)

Hope to get to know you all soon.

    Hugs
