    Hi from Wiltshire.

My 1st year growing anything. I have 2 small kids and thought "I need to educate them in real food", what a mistake!

I have gone for it, with:

Carrots (1 row is ok, the 2nd row is no show)
Toms (started with 3, now have 2)
    Strawberries (doing ok)
Spring Onions (that have never appeared)
    Runners (that have gone yellow)
    Swedes (ok I think)
    Caulis (see swedes)
    Courgette (see caulis) (outside)
Peppers (on the 2nd set of plants) (outside)

Love the forum and you have helped me already with lots, thank you.

Hello and welcome to the Vine Aaron.

Its been a funny old start to the growing year, so don't be disheartened by any losses, there's still time to sew another row of carrots, and if you can grow brassicas then you are doing better than me!

    Glad you could join us.

      Hi Aaron

Like you I wanted to teach my chillun about growing and eating good food (that's not to say you can't buy good food of course). I decided it would be a good idea if I learned a bit myself before the children arrived, but Bean arrived a little earlier than I was expecting so it's a bit of a baptism of fire.

Looks like you're doing well though, and like Becki said - it's been an odd year.

      Good luck, and welcome aboard.

Hi and welcome. I've been growing grub for nigh on 40 yeas and I still can't grow a half decent swede! Well done on what you've grown so far. It's a continuing learning curve!

Thank you all for the welcome. I have the swedes about 8/9 inches apart, I hope that should be ok.

Welcome to the vine Aaron......the kids will have a ball once the strawberries & tomatoes start turning red. Don't think they will reach the table (the fruit, not the kids).................P.S. Keep them away from the red peppers.....

Hi Aaron and welcome to the Vine! It's wonderful when children eat straight from the plot!
