  • hi i am a complete beginner.

hello my name is gemma and i have recently (this weekend in fact) moved house. i have been wanting to grow my own veg for sometime but have never been able to due to lack of space in my previous house.

now though this house has a sizeable garden and my interest is back up. i however do not really know where to start. i have been teaching myself how to cook and i really want to use my own vegetables in my dishes.

hmm not sure what else to put lol. anyway just wanted to say hi and i look forward to using this site

Hi gems, have said hi in the nutterbox as well. With your garden just decide where abouts you want to put your veg bed and do a little bit, then plant some veg, you could put brassica's in now as well as pea's, later you can put onions, broadbeans to overwinter. Loads if you look up what to grow now.

        - find out which bits are shady, which bits are sunny. Most veg & fruit needs sun
        - clear the weeds
        - as you clear, plant something. Look at "what I did today" thread to see what ppl are planting

Hi and welcome. Make a list of what you like best to eat. Then you'll be well motivated to look after them!
