    Hello

I have been browsing the forum for about a year now, and finally decided to join.

Briefly about myself, I have loved gardening since being a child, and now have a small to medium veg plot in the front garden, and a range of fruits in the back garden.

As well as gardening at home I also volunteer at a National Trust property in their garden there (Wallington if any knows it) which I have been doing for about a year now.

I think that about sums me up,

    Pip

Welcome to the Vine from me too Pip! What sort of gardening do you do at Wallington - fruit and veg, ornamentals or a mix of everything?

Pretty much a mix of everything, theres a 4 acre walled garden with mostly herbacious prennial in, so there tends to be a lot of cutting back of those. The other main job there is weeding (Isn't it so in every garden?) they grow a few fruit and veg which I have briefly worked with, but mostly just cutting back peas and lifting plants at the end of last year. Theres also a woodland, so we do some pruning in there, but a lot of that work is left to the forsters.

Well, that sounds like my idea of heaven! Did you have to have a practical interview, to prove you could tell a weed from a treasured specimin?

No - therse a quite detialed application form, and you have a breif interview, but at least at Wallington it seemed a very informal intervirew. Beyond that they just pick up your abilities and give you jobs accordingly.
