hello everyone. I once had an allotment but started to grow at home last year. I am thinking of dividing my plots, one 17ftx5ft, the other 17ft by 9ft ,into raised beds with flagged paths between. I will divide these to give me 4 areas of planting for a four year rotation I wonder if any others have done this. I will lose some useful growing ground but access will be easier. Will this move be a good one ?

if it means you can access your growing areas and keep them weeded and watered and still grow enough for your needs then why not? My plot is just a flat expanse and things get lost in it ...i say to myself ' i know i planted some pak choi' but where is it? and its too unwieldy to keep thoroughly weeded so next year i am thinking of putting in some raised beds for my salad and other fragile stuff at least

My allotment plot is divided up with a central path and raised beds on either side - nice and organised and certainly big enough to grow plenty in.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Hello and welcome to the Vine. Your idea sounds pretty good to me, I have a couple of raised beds and I grow in the open ground in my garden as well. Good luck with it all.
It might be a good idea to put your location into your profile so we all know where you are - you needn't be specific, it just helps other grapes know what your climate is like.
