  • Hello from the Haute Vienne

    Hi.
I am Keni (female), & the OH and originally from Worcs, now retired to the Haute Vienne, between Limoges and Angouleme.
I originally grew as much fruit and veg as I could in our back garden in UK - including the grapevine and figs (wall was southfacing).
Now here we have a bit of land which we are clearing from brambles and bracken, ready to put up our polytunnel, brought over from UK and grow our veg/fruit. Also hoping to have a couple of outside borders and fruit trees.
The OH and I have been practising a bit of beekeeping in Uk, so bought our hives, hopefully ready to start here, if we get a swarm.
I have bought some of my back copies of the magazine with me - can't really get it over here - but can purchase many others in local shops. I think I will be needing all the help I can get, so all advice gratefully received.

Hello Keni and welcome to the Vine. We are not that far from you (in the great scheme of things). There are quite a few Francophiles on here and, as Ginger says I'm sure you'll get to know us in time. Hope you have some bees very soon - I would love some but OH has a "thing" about their hot bottoms so, I'll have to do a bit more persuading I think.

          EDIT:
Only lived her for 4 years but still don't know where I live don't know where I am thinking of but it obviously isn't the same as where you are - duh, sorry - double

                      Hi Keni

We know each other from another Forum. It seems there's a few of us down this way, perhaps the idea of a September get together (to help two newbies who's idea of gardening (in Hampstead) was to call the gardener in) doesn't seem so difficult now and would be nice to put names to faces.

This place can get crazy and you have to allow for the different zones down this way but all in all, it's a good place to pick up advice, remember there's an archive too.

                      Stay in touch.

                      Edit: Are you in 86?
