Welcome to the vine CK - and don't worry about what your lottie neighbour gets up to - sounds like he has the heavy machinery and money to spare to buy in topsoil! Just do a bit at a time - maybe clear enough to get some spuds in in late March?
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

forgive me if i'm wrong as i am new to this but isn't a mini digger cheating and against the point of a lottie, i.e low cost input for max potential output?

dunno about cheating ... if it works and he can afford it, why not?

I cleared mine by hand and it was hard work, but doing it I learned a lot and I'm proud of what I achieved

Just a quick update, found out I was pregnant just after i got the plot and have been struggling with low energy and the joy of all day morning sickness so all has been on hold for a while. Managed to go down a few times and have planted some spuds but all this delightful sun has helped the nettles and bindweed grow with a vengeance. Also put some beans in and have tried to make a bean tunnel for my son to crawl through.
Planted loads of seeds and loving watching things grow in my minin greenhouse. The whole process excites me when something grows and how quickly. Hope everyone else has been working hard;o)

Congratulations!!!! How thrilling! When are you due? How old is your son? I've been creating bean hideouts for my 18 month old son, I enjoy them just as much as he does (if not more).
