  • Ready to get started this year!!

    Hi everyone,

I'm Vanessa. For the last couple of years I've done veg growing here and there but have decided to go get serious with it this year. I'm luckly enough to have been given a greenhouse this week, having previously used the smaller green plastic type from Argos (with success) and I'm so excited about the thought of putting it up and getting started with the growing.

I like to do container growing and last year I grew some brilliant courgettes but my tomatoes were not that tasty.

I purchassed some seedlings before Christmas: leeks, winter beetroot, cabbage and a couple of others but they are not doing fantastic. Once I get the greenhouse up I think I'll get myself sorted and will get these plants in and growing well!

This year I want to grow veg that will keep me and my family fed well for this year and the future!

Hello Vanessa and a very warm welcome to the vine from me as well.
As binley say's not all tomatoes have a yummy taste so don't be put off by the ones you've previously grown. I had a plastic green house and I grew tomatoes, cucumbers and lot's of other veg in it. I think there great if you only have a limited amount of space. Good luck with what ever you decide to grow.

That's an odd time of year to get seedlings, and no they won't be growing much during the winter: stuff doesn't, it's not you

Leeks get sown Feb/Mar and are planted out in the summer for a winter harvest.
