    Hi There!!
New to this forum but I am looking for ways in which to start eating vegetables properly... I'm 25 and haven't eaten any veg ever. I basically try but it's a mix between the texture and taste that puts me off and makes me urge.

Waiting to get blasted by you all as we're in a fruit and veg forum, but I need a way out of this dilemma.

I was thinking about crushing the vegetables and mixing it in with my protein shakes but I'm not sure if this is very clever as the taste will be awful.

    Any other ideas?

Hmmmm. Will I won't I? It's a bit like knowing somebody has depression and feeling like saying "get a grip".

I don't like all vegetables but there aren't many that I just will not swallow willingly except perhaps butter beans and even then if served to me whilst out eating I would eat out of politeness.

I do accept that vegetables that have been overcooked can have an awful slimy texture and cabbage can fall into that category. However, many vegetables ae delicious if eaten raw when they are nice and crisp, or stir fried so that the crispness is preserved . How can anyone not like peas or carrots?

Bottom line though, you're not a child, so stop behaving like one. You should know that vegetables are an essential part of a balanced diet so eat your greens or go stand in the naughty corner until you have mended your ways.

        Hello

        Welcome **Big Waves**

I really can't stand brussel sprouts, not even growing them has made me want to eat them.

but I used to dislike peas and now they're ok, especially sugar snap ones.

What if you grow vegetables that u can mix quite easily with other foods, for example, sweetcorn = tuna and sweetcorn for sandwiches or with a baked potato? Just a thought

            Hi and welcome.

Would I be pushing it to ask if you take protein shakes do you have an eating disorder that involves more than just veggies? If so, I am not sure how you would tackle it but if not, then as others have suggested try raw veggies first.

Lol Zazem. I wouldn't normally make such a comment but we were rather invited to give the poor soul a blasting so couldn't disappoint. I'm sure I'll be forgiven in the afterlife.

I'm betting he has had tomatoes, peppers, beans, potatoes.....and possibly loads of other veg; he just hasn't made the link.

Out of curiosity, what kinds of things do you eat? What did you have for lunch and dinner today?

I think a veg forum is a great place to join. I didn't say I don't 'do' veg as if it's some kind of conscious decisision. I literally can't force them down my throat. I have joined in the hope of somebody being able to think of ways in which I can hide the taste and texture as best as possible.

I know there are ways but I thought I'd ask the experts before I go marching into something.

Also, in response to the question regarding having an eating disorder... No I'm afraid I don't. I use protein shakes as I go to the gym and it helps repair muscle fiber faster if your body is getting a lot of protein (so I've heard).

Anyway, surprised at the response I've got but thanks!
