My name is Katy & have just come accross this Very helpfull forum.
I moved to sheffield in november and we inherited a greenhouse, with a few seed trays, netting & compost bin.
The thing is as I never grown anything (well I have toms & strawberries lol!) at my old house. The thing is I dont know where to start.... I've been down to the local garden centre and bought some seed potatoes, growing bags & organic compost which I'm going to tackle today. A young chap gave me great advice but I could do with some more.....
I have some carrot seed (JEANETTE F1 & PARMEX) & some peas (AMBASSADOR), I'm wanting to put them into the G'house but how do I do it (I know that is a lame question!) will they grow ok in the greenhouse or will I have to clear some ground outside??? I plan to buy some pots to use in there will these be ok??
I do plan to dig a small patch in the garden at some point, but for now I'm happy just using the G'house if it alows me lol!!
hello katy, and welcome, you say you are going to buy some pots,a lot of us use the flower buckets from larger supermarket, our asda give them, others a small fee, best time is mothers day,as they have to many to bother with, you only need to drill some drainage holes in them, also,if you cut the bottom clean of,they can be used as bottomless pots, suitable for toms ext in the green house, either on top of soil,or on top of grow bags with extra compost in,that way you get a biger area for the root system, all the best on your growing, have a go on the forums search,it's supprising what you will come accross.
sigpicAnother nutter ,wife, mother, nan and nanan, love my growing places, seed collection and sharing, also one of these
