Hello and welcome. The cabbage family don't need heat. If you have toms etc that are leggy, repot them and bury them up to their neck in new compost - they;ll root from the stems.
Good luck. We all started off eager and too early. Some of us are now old, careful (and still too early!)
Thank you, Flummery for your advice...will the tomato yield suffer for repotting? Not that I would know anyway or that it would matter greatly, there are about 15 leggy shoots which will hopefully be lots of tomatoes anyway (and that's only one variety...I may be a little too keen??)!!!
My Grandads favourite flowers were cauliflowers! I just wish he were here to impart his wisdom on me as I begin my journey into the garden of life.
hi there welcome to the vine dont worry about your leggy plants they will be fine and you have still loads of time to plant more seeds as back ups if you want
No the yield won't suffer. In fact, if you look at the base of big tomato plants, they are always trying to root from the stem. You get little while nodules which are the beginnings of roots. It will just anchor them better!
Hello and a very warm welcome to the Vine. Plenty of advice to be had on here, you'll be fine. You'll also be amazed how once the leggy tomato seedlings are buried well down, the make a fantastic growth spurt. Good luck with it all.
