  • Greetings from sunny Splott

    Hi everybody,

Long time lurker first time poster, signing up!

I've recently been lucky enough to get given a vintage but solid 8x6 greenhouse which I managed to take down without breaking a single pane (yes!)

Although I'm completely new to gardening, I'm hoping to get it up and running to it's fullest use with the help of this great resource and community.

    See you around!

Hi Mr. Salty welcome to the vine! You've come to the right place for advice. If you put your location up on your profile it'll help us grapes to give you advice suitable to your location. Don't want to be telling you to plant out tender seedlings if you're on a cold, exposed island off the coast of Scotland! (Hmm that actually describes my location)!!!

    Good luck with the growing!
A good beginning is half the work.
Praise the young and they will make progress.

Hello Mr Salty and a very warm welcome to the Vine. Well done with the GH and happy growing. We're a very friendly bunch on here as you probably already know, so don't be afraid to ask away. Glad you're no longer a lurker!

Burning questions ahoy, but yes there is a place called Splott, and if you want to be posh you may pronounce it 'Sploe'.

As for what I'm going to grow in my newly acquired greenhouse, I think I'll kick off with some toms and cucs (there are some good threads on here about varieties). Elsewhere I've got seeds for radish, spinach and beet. Ummm, and peas too!
